Auction on March 23, 2026: Cabinet of Curiosities “A vermeil cup resting on a molded, multi-lobed base. The base is adorned with mermaids sculpted in the round, supporting the cup. The bowl itself is polylobed, chased with large stylized leaves and gadroons in the lower section, a band of pearls in the middle section, and four compartments engraved with mythological scenes (including Perseus rescuing Andromeda) in the upper section. The underside of the base bears a combined coat of arms. Nuremberg, early 17th century. Height: 10.5 cm Weight: 186 g This cup is comparable to a pair of cups that are part of a larger set created by Franz Fischer (master in 1600, died in 1653) and housed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (inv. 17.190.617 & inv. 17.190.586).
